Sue Parten started her drapery workroom in 1986, and over the years, she’s worked on thousands of projects, with hundreds of interior designers, decorators, builders, and retail stores.
Her personal and professional mission is to provide “the highest quality product and customer service,” and she works every day to make WindowWears the most trusted workroom in Colorado.
Sue’s love for sewing and her mechanical mind are what drew her into the wonderful world of custom draperies! Self-taught, part of her education came from “going through retail showrooms and climbing behind displays to see how the window treatments were made.”
In the 1980s, she briefly opened a retail location that sold custom draperies, blinds, and shades. Through the store, she met several interior designers who began to use her services. Soon, though, she realized that she was competing with designers, which didn’t seem to be the strongest way forward. That’s when she made the decision that she could capitalize on her fabrication skills, and partner with designers and other industry professionals who could capitalize on their design skills!
Sue’s favorite part of her work is “fabricating treatments and knowing that people will enjoy them for years to come.”
Over the years, Sue has received recognition and awards for her custom window treatments, as well as her entrepreneurial accomplishments.
Born in South Dakota, Sue moved to Colorado as a child and has been here ever since. She loves the outdoors and hikes, snowshoes, and goes camping whenever she can.
She is committed to volunteer work and is actively involved with: Plum Creek Church, One Child Matters, and Night Lights (a respite care program for parents of children with disabilities).
